three part harmony

Question-what group has sold over 100 million albums in the past 45 years, the fifth largest selling group in history, has been accused of starting disco, although their largest selling album preceded the movie, is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and is almost invisible-even when they were at the height of their fame? Final clue-they have some of the most beautiful harmonies in the world. Tick...tick...tick...times up.
Answer-The Bee Gees! The three Gibb brothers, Barry, and the twins, Robin and Maurice. Superstars in the sixties, and then even larger when their album, Saturday Night Fever came out. An album where they had already cut the tracks, before the film was made, a dance album they called it, that many claim is responsible for the disco invasion, although they were no part of it. Music that today stands by itself as contemporary, as all good music does and will.
The Gibb family was comprised of four sons, the youngest one, Andy, becoming a superstar in his own right, but succumbing to drugs from the pressure of stardom. A loss of musical talent, as his first three single releases became #1 hits! Truly a family of musical talent if their ever was one, and without a doubt the most famous group from Australia-even if we don't remember them when famous musical groups are remembered.
I love harmonies. Listen to Poco, and the way the voices seem to mold themselves into one. The Beach Boys led by the genius of Brian Wilson, able to translate the songs he heard in his head onto vinyl. Perhaps the all time harmonies of all time. But when watching a Biography of the Bee Gees yesterday, Maurice, one of the twins, and dead almost 10 years now, told that it was really Barry and Robin whose voices provided a most unique harmony. He told that when shown on tape, how they could follow each brother singing individually. But when Barry and Robin sang together, something magical happened-their two voices became one. Whereas there had been two distinct voices, when in harmony they became as one-and that was how the recorder picked them up. Not a third voice from them combining, but one voice actually formed from the two! True harmony-as the two became one! I wonder how many of you top 40 am radio types ever could tell? And if you did, could appreciate it? This musical miracle happening right before our very ears, but never hearing it!
Harmony is something we desire in life. To be in tune with nature, with our motorcycles, and with our families. But true harmony comes from being in tune with God. When we let Him into our life, and let Him fill that "God gap" that we all have, then we become as one with Him. Not some mystical new age theory, but when we let His spirit guide our life, we are in Him! A mystery, God calls it, that only can be revealed by the Holy Spirit. Who points you to Jesus,, who is the only way to God-His Father! The Trinity-a pure and supernatural harmony, that all work together, in pure love, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. And who lets the music of God sing a new song in our lives!
Just reading the Bible will not bring this harmony. Nor will going to church, praying, or doing things that you think will please God. You cannot make Him love you more than He does-that's called agape love! But yielding to the spirit, asking God to guide you, letting Jesus truly be Lord of your life, the harmonies begin. And as you begin to spend time with God, you hear life in a different tune, and see how this loving, supernatural harmony will guide and change your life. A trip into eternity, to spent with a loving God. But the first step starts with you.
Who do you say Jesus is? The spirit is pointing you to Him right now-you need Jesus, you need Jesus. But because He is a gentleman and comforter, does not force Jesus on you-it is a free will choice you make. And once you do, you have access to the creator of the universe, who calls you His son, and whose son calls you His friend. A perfect three part harmony, that somehow appears as three distinct persons, but is really one, and now you are a part of it! No wonder no one can explain it. A mystery, that only can be answered by making the first step-trusting Jesus.
Three part harmonies-beautiful to the ear. And a three part God in harmony with you-beautiful to the soul. Tune into Jesus today, and watch as His new song fills your soul. Listen as His voice harmonizes with you, and you sing songs that you never heard before, or old ones never sung like this before in harmony. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A three part harmony-each distinct, but each with a beautiful voice of its own.
How deep is your love? You will never know until you sing in the harmony of the trinity. Makes that Saturday Night Fever worth Stayin' Alive until Sunday morning church! No more Jive Talkin' for me. When it comes to Jesus, If I Can't Have You, I don't want nobody! So...Put God in the first groove, and let Him wail!
love with compassion,
Mike
